Mission & Discipleship News – July 2012

The July 2012 edition of the newsletter from the Mission & Discipleship Council of the Church of Scotland has details of around 20 events and resources of interest to church people throughout Scotland. They include retreats with the titles ‘Adventures in Worship’ and ‘Letters from John’, a conference in Glasgow on the topic of ‘Sharing Faith in a Post-Modern Age’ and early-bird booking details of a National Music Event, called ‘Different Voices’ being held in March 2013.

Here is what the newsletter has to say about this event:
Musicians, composers, children’s workers and anyone who uses music in the life and work of the church are invited to come and take part in an event designed to inspire and enable music to be used in even more imaginative and effective ways. Workshops will be run by people working nationally and locally, and include composers, writers and musicians working in the fields of Classical, Contemporary, Community and Children’s music.

Different Voices is also the name of an online magazine about church music in Scotland, produced by the Mission & Discipleship Council. It is for all those who sing in choirs, congregations and praise groups, play organs or other instruments, and all who plan, lead and choose music and hymns for worship.

More details of this, and more, are available on the newsletter.
