Syria: a Church of Scotland response

Please take time to read the latest blog post from the Church and Society Council of the Church of Scotland. Even if the situation in Syria seems too difficult to understand, know that you can do something to help: pray for peace, pray for the people caught up in the fighting, support our Partner Church, the National Evangelical Church in Syria and Lebanon as they help people of all faiths forced out of their own homes within Syria or into Lebanon. Cumbernauld Village Fun Day

Cumbernauld Village Action for the Community (CVAC) and the Village Community Council are hosting a Village Fun Day on Saturday 31st August from 1.00pm – 3.00pm in the Lang Riggs (adjacent to the children’s home).

There will be children’s games and activities, a bouncy castle, face-painting, a barbecue, nature trails and an opportunity to visit the new allotments. Note: as this is an open-air event, it will take place ‘weather permitting’. Please come along and join in the fun. More information at

Condorrat Church Craft Fair

On Saturday 26th October from 10am to 12-ish we are holding a Coffee Morning with home baking and Craft Fair.  Tickets £2 – includes tea/ coffee/ juice and goodies.
Crafts include jewellery, handmade cards, soaps, candles, sweeties and lots of other gifts – with Christmas in mind.  Do come along, everyone very welcome.

Cumbernauld Old worship update

As our church building is still under repair / renovation and the Large Hall of the Village Hall in The Wynd is unavailable, our 10.15am worship service on Sunday 25th August will take place in the Forge Community Centre in Balloch (postcode G68 9ND). This is for one week only and will incorporate the Sacrament of Baptism; we revert to the Village Hall for the following week’s worship. We ask those requiring lifts from the Village to Balloch to please meet at the Village Hall at 9.45am. Thanks.

Sunday 25th August sees the restart of our J Team after the summer holidays. They meet from 10.00am in the Small Hall of the Village Hall (which is available to us that day).

The 11.45am worship service at the Forge will take place as usual this Sunday.

Sunday 1st September is Communion Sunday and joint services take place at 11.00am in the Large Hall of the Village Hall and at 6.30pm in the Roadside Hall in the Village. There will be no service at the Forge this Sunday. Non-alcoholic wine will be used at the 6.30pm service.

Panto time at Kildrum

Kildrum Parish Church is putting on its own pantomime in January and the rehearsals start the first weekend in September. This time it is a completely original story, well… based (extremely loosely) on a little-known fairy-tale, called ‘The Pirate Prince’. Details of tickets and dates will follow in the next couple of months. So keep your eyes open for more details!

New Session for Kildrum’s Rainbows, Brownies & Guides

Condorrat Parish Church

From Sunday 1st September onwards our Sunday morning worship will revert to the usual time of 11am.

A last chance to buy tickets for the Ladies Lunch and Fashion Show which is to be held at the Westerwood Hotel on Saturday 21st September at 12 noon.  Tickets are £25 and can be obtained from Margaret McCallum (07799 281 876 / 01236 728086).  All proceeds will go to the Sanctuary Refurbishment Project
