Holy Week & Easter 2015

As we approach Holy Week and Easter, the churches in Cumbernauld have published a list of worship services to mark this most important week of the Christian calendar. Everyone is welcome to join us at any of the services and activities listed below. Click the ‘continue reading’ link for more info.

Saturday 28th March

11am(-ish!) – 12 noon Toddlers’ Praise in Cumbernauld Old Parish Church – songs, stories and activities on an Easter theme for the wee ones and their families.

 

11.00am – 3.00pm Easter Cracked Open, arranged by the churches in Falkirk Presbytery, with stories, games, crafts, music and videos. The fun takes place in the Howgate Shopping Centre, Falkirk (opposite Boots). All welcome!

 

Sunday 29th March – Palm Sunday

10.15am Morning Worship in Cumbernauld Old Parish Church – you are invited to bring a small chocolate Easter Egg to this or our 11.45am service (see below) which, together with the others, will be distributed to children and families in need.
10.30am Morning Worship, with the Youth Organisations’ Parade in Kildrum Parish Church.
11.00am Morning Worship in Condorrat Parish Church
11.15am Morning Worship in Abronhill Parish Church
11.15am Morning Worship in St Mungo’s Parish Church
11.45am Cumbernauld Old Parish Church worship in the Forge Community Centre, Balloch, with the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

Monday 30th March

7.30pm Holy Week Worship, led by Susan Boland. Abronhill Parish Church. (see *note below)

 

Tuesday 31st March

7.30pm Holy Week Worship, led by the Kirk Session. Abronhill Parish Church.

 

Wednesday 1st April

7.30pm Holy Week Worship, led by The Guild. Abronhill Parish Church.

 

Thursday 2nd April – Maundy Thursday

7.00pm Paschal Supper in the Large Hall of Kildrum Parish Church, where we will eat and worship together. We suggest a donation of £3 to cover costs – tickets are available after our Sunday services in the Hall of Friendship.
7.00pm Sacrament of Holy Communion, Condorrat Parish Church.
7.30pm Sacrament of Holy Communion, Abronhill Parish Church.
7.30pm Sacrament of Holy Communion, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church.

 

Friday 3rd April – Good Friday

11.00am until 1.00pm (approx) Good Friday Walk of Witness, organised by Cumbernauld Churches Together.
We start from Sacred Heart Church at 11.00am and visit several churches in Cumbernauld with a short act of worship at each before finishing at Cumbernauld United Reformed Church around 1.00pm.
 
12 noon until 3.00pm Good Friday Vigil in Cumbernauld Old Parish Church – the church will be open for prayer and reflection, with Scripture readings and meditations on the hour and half-hour.

 

12 noon until 3.00pm Good Friday Vigil in Kildrum Parish Church. The Minister and Deacon will read scripture and lead prayer and meditation each quarter-hour. Anyone is free to come in and leave whenever and as often as they wish.

 

7.00pm Good Friday Worship, Condorrat Parish Church.
7.30pm Good Friday Worship, Abronhill Parish Church.

 

Sunday 5th April – EASTER DAY

7.00am Early-morning service, including Communion in the Chancel Garden of Kildrum Parish Church. The service will last about 30mins, with breakfast served in the large hall afterwards.
10.15am Morning Worship in Cumbernauld Old Parish Church.
10.30am Morning Worship in Kildrum Parish Church.
11.00am Morning Worship in Condorrat Parish Church
11.15am Morning Worship in Abronhill Parish Church
11.15am Morning Worship in St Mungo’s Parish Church
11.45am Cumbernauld Old Parish Church worship in the Forge Community Centre, Balloch.

 

* Note: Tea/coffee & biscuits will be served after each of the Holy Week services in Abronhill Parish Church. Also, all offerings collected during these Holy Week services will be donated to Watch Us Grow.
