Yes, we know J.A.F.A. Church should be celebrating St. Andrew’s Day on 27th November but as it’s also the first Sunday in Advent and also, as the last Sunday of December is Christmas Day this year, we decided to have as our theme ‘Advent’ instead of St. Andrew.
So on Sunday 27th November, from 4-6pm at Abronhill Parish Church, we will be exploring the theme of ‘Advent’ (the name we give to the lead-up to Christmas).
We’ll be playing a dice game using the badminton court, journeying with Mary and Joseph on the long journey to Bethlehem, making advent wreaths / crowns, making Christmas banners and, as we’ll need a star to light the way, so we’ll be making stars too.
We hope you’ll come along and join in the fun! It’s free and we get fed too!
The nights are fair drawing in – it’s getting darker earlier – so what about some light, eh?! This month, J.A.F.A. Church’s theme is “Light instead of darkness”.
We’re on 30th October – the day the clocks go back – 4-6pm at Abronhill Parish Church. Why not come along?
We’re making stained glass pictures, we’re icing biscuits with white and dark chocolate, making paper lanterns and glass painting. Mind you, if you’re brave enough why not try our game of feeling for different things while blindfolded – are you brave enough to try?
Come along and join in the fun! It’s free and we’ll be finding out how Jesus brings light to the world. Remember, that’s Sunday 30th October from 4-6pm at Abronhill Parish Church. See you there!
September is here at last and off we go with J.A.F.A. Church for the new session! We meet on Sunday 25th September from 4.00pm – 6.00pm at Abronhill Parish Church and all families are welcome.
Harvest is this month’s theme. Activities include making fruit and vegetables with play-doh, ‘dooking’ for apples (now that sounds fun!), making chocolate strawberries (even more fun!) and thanking God for our food by making a Thank You plate.
If you haven’t yet tried J.A.F.A. Church and have been thinking of coming along, please do – it’s free, it’s fun and you even get your dinner.
Susan Boland will be running another CAP Money Course from Thursday 25th August at 10am in Abronhill Parish Church halls. If you are interested or wish further information please either contact Susan by leaving a message below (we’ll pass it on) or register your interest on the CAP money course website. The course will run for 3 sessions with time in-between for you to engage fully with the material.
The CAP Money Course is described on their website as “a free course that will teach you budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that works. In just a few weeks, you will get to grips with your finances so you can budget, save and prevent debt.”
We’re all starting to think about going on holiday – and this stunning weather helps! This month in J.A.F.A. Church we’re thinking about “The holiday of a lifetime”.
Where do you think our destination might be? Come along and join in the fun – make your own passport, join in with the team game to pack a suitcase, look up atlas and road maps to plan your journey, or build a 3D jigsaw of the world.
No holiday by the seaside would be complete without fish and chips – so guess what we’re having for tea this month?
The fun takes place from 4 -6pm on Sunday 26th June at Abronhill Parish Church. See you then!
“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Church, Happy Birthday to you”. We all have birthdays, and the Christian Church is no different.
Did you know the Church had a birthday? When Jesus had been resurrected, he said he would send a helper – the Holy Spirit – to help the disciples in the work he’d asked them to do. Jesus went back to Heaven but as he did so, the Holy Spirit came down onto the disciples like flames of fire; like a strong wind. They then carried on the work that Jesus had asked them to do.
This month in J.A.F.A. Church we’re holding a birthday party! We’ll be making candles with flames, birthday cards, paper chains for our party and we’re even going to have a birthday cake!
Come along from 4 – 6pm on Sunday 29th May to Abronhill Parish Church. It’s free and you don’t even have to bring a present! Jesus is your present!
