Cumbernauld Old Parish Church is delighted to announce that the excellent sum of £1916.30 was raised in the parish during the recent annual door-to-door collection for Christian Aid Week. Gift Aid declarations were received for an astonishing £947.49 of this total.
We are also delighted to report that a further £350 was donated for the work of Christian Aid at the 1st Cumbernauld Boys’ Brigade Annual Display. A huge “well done”, thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.
Cumbernauld Old Parish Church is delighted to announce that the total collected from this year’s Christian Aid Week door-to-door collection in the parish was £2595.01 and that the Boys’ Brigade Display raised another £300 for Christian Aid. This is a marvellous total and is £700 more than was collected last year!
Furthermore, from that total, the donations made under Gift Aid amounted to £1274, meaning Christian Aid can recover the tax already paid on them, adding a further 20% or so. Thanks to everyone who completed the Gift Aid form on their red envelope.
Last week, we received word that The Boys’ Brigade in Scotland had been confirmed as the Official Guinness World Record Holders for the longest-ever continuous game of five-a-side football.
A team of Boys’ Brigade members and leaders, many from our own 1st Cumbernauld Company, set the record at Broadwood Stadium last September, playing continuously for 55 hours, although it has taken until now for all the paperwork and other evidence to be checked and the record to be formally ratified.
What an achievement! A HUGE well done to everyone who took part – record-breakers one and all.
On Sunday 9 November our Remembrance Day Service will begin at 10.30am.
