Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2018

Thursday 18th January marks the start of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2018, which will run until Thursday 25th January.

Cumbernauld Action of Churches Together invite people to join them this Friday (19th) and then next Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th at 12 noon at Church of the Holy Name, Seafar for a short prayer service followed by a soup and roll lunch.

Advent Meditations 

20171202_203529.jpgCumbernauld Action of Churches Together are hosting a series of Advent Meditations on Wednesdays 6th, 13th and 20th December.

They will be held in the Lady Chapel of the Church of the Holy Name, Seafar and will start at 7pm with the opportunity for tea / coffee and chat beforehand.

Holy Week & Easter 2013

The five Church of Scotland congregations in Cumbernauld are holding a number of worship services and activities during Holy Week, which starts on Palm Sunday, 24th March. The details are listed below. All are open to everyone and we hope you will join us during this special time for the Christian church.

Saturday 23rd March

  • 11.00am Toddlers’ Praise, Cumbernauld Old – songs, prayers, stories and activities on an Easter theme for the wee ones and their families. We invite those attending this service (or our Palm Sunday services on the 24th) to bring along a small chocolate Easter Egg to be passed on to children in the Glasgow area, via the Social Work Department, who wouldn’t otherwise get one. Thank you.

  • 10.30am Morning Worship, Kildrum, including youth organisations’ parade
  • 11.00am Morning Worship, Condorrat

Monday 25th March

  • 7.30pm Worship Service, Abronhill

Thursday 28th March

  • 7.00pm Paschal Meal, Kildrum, in the large hall – a commemoration of the Last Supper, including a meal and Holy Communion.
  • 7.00pm Maundy Thursday Communion Service, Condorrat
  • 7.30pm Worship Service, Abronhill
  • 7.30pm Maundy Thursday Communion Service, Cumbernauld Old

Good Friday 29th March

  • 11.00am – 1.00pm (approx) Good Friday Walk of Witness, organised by Cumbernauld Churches Together. This starts from Sacred Heart Church and visits Kildrum Parish Church, Church of the Holy Name and Cornerstone Christian Fellowship with a short act of worship at each before finishing at the United Reformed Church where there will be a snack lunch.
  • 12 noon – 3.00pm Good Friday vigil, Cumbernauld Old. A time of silence and reflection with readings and prayers on the hour and half-hour.
  • 12 noon – 3.00pm Good Friday vigil, Kildrum. Please feel free to come at any time during this period. The Minister and Deacon will lead reflections, readings and prayer on the quarter hour.
  • 7.00pm Worship Service, Condorrat
  • 7.30pm Worship Service, Abronhill

Easter Day – Sunday 31st March

  • 7.00am Early morning service, Kildrum, with Holy Communion. This will take place in the Chancel Garden and will be followed by breakfast in the large hall.
  • 10.30am Morning Worship, Kildrum
  • 11.00am Morning Worship, Condorrat
  • 11.15am Morning Worship, Abronhill
  • 11.15am Morning Worship, St Mungo’s
  • 11.45am Morning Worship, Forge Community Centre, Balloch (Cumbernauld Old). The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at this service.
  • 4.00pm – 6.00pm Messy Church, Forge Community Centre, Balloch – stories, crafts and activities, followed by a time of celebration and a meal – for people of all ages.

One World Week

One World Week 2012Cumbernauld Churches Together will be holding a series of short worship services each day from Monday 22nd – Friday 26th October in the Church of the Holy Name, Seafar as part of One World Week. The services will start at 12 noon and will last about half-an-hour, after which a light lunch will be served. All welcome!
