Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2019

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2019 runs from 18th until 25th January and Cumbernauld Action of Churches Together invite you to two worship services to mark this week in the church calendar.

Please join us on Tuesday 22nd January at 12 noon in Church of the Holy Name for a short worship service followed by a soup and sandwich lunch, and on Thursday 24th January at 7.00pm also at the Church of the Holy Name for a short worship service followed by tea / coffee.

All welcome at either or both services.

Festival of Light 2018

181209_010 Festival of Light posterCumbernauld’s annual Festival of Light worship service will take place on Sunday 9th December at 7.30pm in Sacred Heart Church, Kildrum.

This ecumenical service has been organised by a committee gathered from a number of local churches and we hope as many people as possible will come along and support the event.

Croy Silver Band will again be leading the congregational singing and we will be joined by the choir from one of the local primary schools as well as the Columban Singers from Kilsyth.

No tickets are required, but donations taken at the end of the service will be shared between the Third World Group from Sacred Heart Church and Christian Aid.

Meditations for Lent

Lent Meditations 2018Cumbernauld Churches Together are holding a series of Meditations for Lent on Thursdays 15th February, 1st March and 15th March.

These will be based on the “Inviting God In” material, produced by Joyce Rupp, and will take place in the Church House of Condorrat Parish Church at 7.00 for 7.30pm. All welcome!

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2018

Thursday 18th January marks the start of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2018, which will run until Thursday 25th January.

Cumbernauld Action of Churches Together invite people to join them this Friday (19th) and then next Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th at 12 noon at Church of the Holy Name, Seafar for a short prayer service followed by a soup and roll lunch.

Advent Meditations 

20171202_203529.jpgCumbernauld Action of Churches Together are hosting a series of Advent Meditations on Wednesdays 6th, 13th and 20th December.

They will be held in the Lady Chapel of the Church of the Holy Name, Seafar and will start at 7pm with the opportunity for tea / coffee and chat beforehand.

Festival of Light

171210_010 Festival of Light posterCumbernauld’s annual Festival of Light carol service will be held on Sunday 10th December 2017 at 7.30pm in St Mungo’s Parish Church in the Town Centre.

Everyone is cordially invited to this ecumenical service of readings and carols. The Croy Silver Band will once more lead the congregational singing, an incredibly talented Gaelic duet will sing, and the choir from Ravenswood Primary School will also contribute to what promises to be another memorable evening.

We invite you to take some time out from all the hustle and bustle in the lead-up to Christmas and join us on the evening of Sunday 10th December. Entry is free and you don’t need a ticket, but donations for Christian Aid and the One World Group will be gratefully received at the end of the service.

Holy Week & Easter 2017

The five Church of Scotland congregations in Cumbernauld have announced details of their worship services and activities for Holy Week and Easter. Here’s a list of what we have planned:

Sunday 9th April – Palm Sunday

10.15am: Morning worship, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church (Village)

10.30am: Morning worship, Kildrum Parish Church

11.00am: Morning worship, Condorrat Parish Church

11.15am: Morning worship, Abronhill Parish Church

11.15am: Morning worship, St Mungo’s Parish Church

11.45am: Morning worship, Forge Centre, Balloch (Cumbernauld Old)

2.00pm: Toddlers Praise in the Condorrat Parish Church Hall. For families with pre-school children, but school age siblings and and grandparents welcome too. A fun, relaxed service lasting around 30 minutes followed by tea and biscuits.

Monday 10th April

7.00pm: Holy Week service, Abronhill Parish Church

Tuesday 11th April

7.00pm: Holy Week service, Abronhill Parish Church

Wednesday 12th April

7.00pm: Holy Week service, Abronhill Parish Church

Thursday 13th April – Maundy Thursday

7.00pm: Maundy Thursday Communion service, Abronhill

7.00pm: Maundy Thursday service, St Mungo’s. We will share a simple Passover meal in the large hall followed by Communion in the church sanctuary

7.30pm: Maundy Thursday Communion service, Cumbernauld Old

Friday 14th April – Good Friday

10.30am – 12 noon (approx): Good Friday Walk of Witness, arranged by Cumbernauld Churches Together. Starting from outside the Dunnes store in the Town Centre at 10.45am and going via various locations in the Town Centre, ending at Cumbernauld United Reformed Church at around 12 noon. (Please note our new timings this year)

12.00 – 3.00pm: Good Friday Vigil – Cumbernauld Old will be open for prayer and reflection, with Bible readings and meditations on the hour and half-hour.

12.00 – 3.00pm: Good Friday Vigil, following the last three hours of Jesus’ passion and death with a short reading and reflection every 15 minutes, remainder of the time for quiet. Kildrum Parish Church

7.00pm: Good Friday service, Abronhill

7.00pm: Good Friday service, Condorrat

7.00pm: Good Friday service, St Mungo’s

Sunday 16th April – Easter Day

7.00am: Easter Morning service in the Chancel garden of Kildrum Parish Church

10.15am: Easter Day service, Cumbernauld Old

10.30am: Easter Day service, Kildrum

11.00am: Easter Day service, Condorrat, with decoration of the cross with daffodils

11.15am: Easter Day service, Abronhill

11.15am: Easter Day service, St Mungo’s
