Festival of Light

Everyone is cordially invited to this ecumenical service of readings and carols. The Croy Silver Band will once more lead the congregational singing, an incredibly talented Gaelic duet will sing, and the choir from Ravenswood Primary School will also contribute to what promises to be another memorable evening.

We invite you to take some time out from all the hustle and bustle in the lead-up to Christmas and join us on the evening of Sunday 10th December. Entry is free and you don’t need a ticket, but donations for Christian Aid and the One World Group will be gratefully received at the end of the service.

Festival of Light 2016

The annual Festival of Light service will be held this year in Sacred Heart Church in Kildrum on Sunday 4 December at 7.30 pm and everyone is cordially invited to come along and join this ecumenical Carol Service.

This festival of Christmas carols and Bible readings has been going for 26 years and is organised by a committee drawn from many Cumbernauld churches. This year’s festival will feature Cumbernauld Choir and the children from Carbrain Primary School as well as festival stalwarts, the Croy Silver Band. The readings will be given by Andrew Longye, Minister at the Free Church, Stuart McDonald MP, Liz Dalling and Ivar Struthers from Cumbernauld Old Parish Church of Scotland. The reflection this year will be given by Deacon Kenny McGeachie of St Lucy’s in Abronhill.

As well as bringing congregations from all of Cumbernauld’s Churches together in a Christmas celebration, the Festival Of Light is also a fundraising event for Sacred Heart’s Third World Group and for Christian Aid, whose Christmas Appeal this year coincidentally is entitled Light the Way for people fleeing violence this Christmas.

Please come along and lend your support to this wonderful Christmas service. It really is a very special evening. We attach a poster you may wish to copy and circulate. But most of all, please come along and show your support on Sunday 4th December.
