Yes, we know J.A.F.A. Church should be celebrating St. Andrew’s Day on 27th November but as it’s also the first Sunday in Advent and also, as the last Sunday of December is Christmas Day this year, we decided to have as our theme ‘Advent’ instead of St. Andrew.
So on Sunday 27th November, from 4-6pm at Abronhill Parish Church, we will be exploring the theme of ‘Advent’ (the name we give to the lead-up to Christmas).
We’ll be playing a dice game using the badminton court, journeying with Mary and Joseph on the long journey to Bethlehem, making advent wreaths / crowns, making Christmas banners and, as we’ll need a star to light the way, so we’ll be making stars too.
We hope you’ll come along and join in the fun! It’s free and we get fed too!
The nights are fair drawing in – it’s getting darker earlier – so what about some light, eh?! This month, J.A.F.A. Church’s theme is “Light instead of darkness”.
We’re on 30th October – the day the clocks go back – 4-6pm at Abronhill Parish Church. Why not come along?
We’re making stained glass pictures, we’re icing biscuits with white and dark chocolate, making paper lanterns and glass painting. Mind you, if you’re brave enough why not try our game of feeling for different things while blindfolded – are you brave enough to try?
Come along and join in the fun! It’s free and we’ll be finding out how Jesus brings light to the world. Remember, that’s Sunday 30th October from 4-6pm at Abronhill Parish Church. See you there!
September is here at last and off we go with J.A.F.A. Church for the new session! We meet on Sunday 25th September from 4.00pm – 6.00pm at Abronhill Parish Church and all families are welcome.
Harvest is this month’s theme. Activities include making fruit and vegetables with play-doh, ‘dooking’ for apples (now that sounds fun!), making chocolate strawberries (even more fun!) and thanking God for our food by making a Thank You plate.
If you haven’t yet tried J.A.F.A. Church and have been thinking of coming along, please do – it’s free, it’s fun and you even get your dinner.
We’re all starting to think about going on holiday – and this stunning weather helps! This month in J.A.F.A. Church we’re thinking about “The holiday of a lifetime”.
Where do you think our destination might be? Come along and join in the fun – make your own passport, join in with the team game to pack a suitcase, look up atlas and road maps to plan your journey, or build a 3D jigsaw of the world.
No holiday by the seaside would be complete without fish and chips – so guess what we’re having for tea this month?
The fun takes place from 4 -6pm on Sunday 26th June at Abronhill Parish Church. See you then!
“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Church, Happy Birthday to you”. We all have birthdays, and the Christian Church is no different.
Did you know the Church had a birthday? When Jesus had been resurrected, he said he would send a helper – the Holy Spirit – to help the disciples in the work he’d asked them to do. Jesus went back to Heaven but as he did so, the Holy Spirit came down onto the disciples like flames of fire; like a strong wind. They then carried on the work that Jesus had asked them to do.
This month in J.A.F.A. Church we’re holding a birthday party! We’ll be making candles with flames, birthday cards, paper chains for our party and we’re even going to have a birthday cake!
Come along from 4 – 6pm on Sunday 29th May to Abronhill Parish Church. It’s free and you don’t even have to bring a present! Jesus is your present!
April’s J.A.F.A. Church is all about God’s World and God’s Creation.
Renewable energy and climate change are big news just now, so why don’t you come along to J.A.F.A. Church on Sunday 24th April and find out how we can be good stewards of God’s World? Make a windmill; using postcards find out about the world by making a collage; build a 3D jigsaw or, using recyclable rubbish, build a castle or a high tower and then knock it down! Brilliant fun!
If you’re feeling a bit down after being on holiday, then come along and perk yourself up, join with other families and find out more about God and the world he created.
J.A.F.A Church is at Abronhill Parish Church from 4-6pm on Sunday 24th April.
Easter Day might be full of bunnies and crème eggs but not at J.A.F.A. Church!
J.A.F.A. Church is on Easter Day (Sunday 27th March) so rather than stand in a queue at Palacerigg Country Park, come along and join in the activities at Abronhill Parish Church from 4-6pm.
Make Easter bonnets, Easter gardens, decorate a hard boiled egg and roll it down the hillside outside the church, and go on an Easter Egg hunt. If you haven’t tried it yet, please do and learn what Easter really is about – the joy of Jesus’ wonderful resurrection.
