Rainbow Service 2016

The Rainbow Tree 2014Cumbernauld Old holds its annual ‘Rainbow Service’ in the Parish Church on Sunday 18th December at 3pm.

This short service is for those who have been bereaved, either recently or some time ago, and find the ‘jolly’ side of Christmas painful or tinged with sadness. We invite you to come along for a service of worship, remembrance and reflection.

During the service you will have the opportunity to tie a coloured ribbon to the Rainbow Tree in memory of a loved one, as well as take one home as a keepsake. Please note this service is not suitable for young children.

The Rainbow Tree will remain in church until Easter Day, when all the ribbons will be carefully removed, ironed and made into something beautiful.

The Rainbow Trees

The annual Rainbow Service at Cumbernauld Old was held yesterday in the Village Hall. The smaller of the two trees will now be taken to the Forge Centre at Balloch and the larger will be placed in the Parish Church once we move back in after the renovations are complete (hopefully later this week).
Both trees will remain in place until Easter, and anyone visiting the Parish Church or worshipping at the Forge is invited to tie a ribbon to the tree in memory of a loved one.

Rainbow Service at Cumbernauld Old

Rainbow Service at Cumbernauld Old 15 December 2013This Sunday afternoon (15th December) Cumbernauld Old Parish Church holds its annual Rainbow Service in the Village Hall in The Wynd, starting at 3pm. This service of memorial and remembrance is especially for those who have been bereaved – recently or long ago – and who find the ‘jolly’ side of Christmas painful and who wish to remember loved ones quietly. It will last about 45 minutes and there will be tea and coffee afterwards.
Please note that the service is not suitable for very young children (under three) – we apologise but we are unable to provide a crèche this year.

The Rainbow Tree

The Rainbow Tree at Cumbernauld OldCumbernauld Old held their annual Rainbow Service – a service of memorial and remembrance – on Sunday 16th December. During the service our Rainbow Trees for winter 2012 were created (see picture on the right). There is one tree for each of our two worship centres and these will remain until Easter 2013 when each ribbon will be carefully removed and made into a permanent reminder.

Everyone attending or visiting the church until then is invited to tie a coloured ribbon to the tree in memory of a loved one and, if they wish, keep a separate ribbon for their own private use.
