Cumbernauld Old Parish Church is delighted to announce that the total collected from this year’s Christian Aid Week door-to-door collection in the parish was £2595.01 and that the Boys’ Brigade Display raised another £300 for Christian Aid. This is a marvellous total and is £700 more than was collected last year!
Furthermore, from that total, the donations made under Gift Aid amounted to £1274, meaning Christian Aid can recover the tax already paid on them, adding a further 20% or so. Thanks to everyone who completed the Gift Aid form on their red envelope. Continue reading “Christian Aid Week – it’s good news!”→
September is here at last and off we go with J.A.F.A. Church for the new session! We meet on Sunday 25th September from 4.00pm – 6.00pm at Abronhill Parish Church and all families are welcome.
Harvest is this month’s theme. Activities include making fruit and vegetables with play-doh, ‘dooking’ for apples (now that sounds fun!), making chocolate strawberries (even more fun!) and thanking God for our food by making a Thank You plate.
If you haven’t yet tried J.A.F.A. Church and have been thinking of coming along, please do – it’s free, it’s fun and you even get your dinner.
What can we say? The weather was glorious, the turnout excellent and the sum raised for church funds on Saturday afternoon was an astonishing £2159 (with possibly more to come in). An enormous THANK-YOU to everyone who came along during the previous week to set-up gazebos, hang the bunting, prepare the Manse garden, dust down tables and chairs and generally made sure that everything went like clockwork on the day.
Thank-you, too, to the bakers and knitters and musicians and all who provided donations for our many stalls. Thanks are due also to everyone who came along on the day, brought along family and friends, spent their money and provided what was a marvellous atmosphere. And, finally, all who worked to wash-up, clear up and dismantle everything once the crowds had gone. A real team effort and much appreciated.
Cumbernauld Old Parish Church would like to say a BIG ‘thank-you’ to everyone who helped make our Christmas Fair on Saturday 24th November such a success.
That includes everyone who set things up on Friday evening, all who donated and contributed to the stalls and those who sold as much as they could on the day, all who slaved over hot teas and coffees for the huge numbers of visitors, the Brownies and the wonderful Jazz Group for entertaining us so handsomely, Santa for helping whip up the Christmas enthusiasm in our younger visitors and all other helpers too many to mention.
Thanks, also, to all who came and spent their money supporting us – we’ll update you with the total amount raised as soon as we can – and, finally, to Elizabeth Snedden and Anne Morrison for all their hard work over many weeks organising such a successful fair.
