Holy Week & Easter 2017

The five Church of Scotland congregations in Cumbernauld have announced details of their worship services and activities for Holy Week and Easter. Here’s a list of what we have planned:

Sunday 9th April – Palm Sunday

10.15am: Morning worship, Cumbernauld Old Parish Church (Village)

10.30am: Morning worship, Kildrum Parish Church

11.00am: Morning worship, Condorrat Parish Church

11.15am: Morning worship, Abronhill Parish Church

11.15am: Morning worship, St Mungo’s Parish Church

11.45am: Morning worship, Forge Centre, Balloch (Cumbernauld Old)

2.00pm: Toddlers Praise in the Condorrat Parish Church Hall. For families with pre-school children, but school age siblings and and grandparents welcome too. A fun, relaxed service lasting around 30 minutes followed by tea and biscuits.

Monday 10th April

7.00pm: Holy Week service, Abronhill Parish Church

Tuesday 11th April

7.00pm: Holy Week service, Abronhill Parish Church

Wednesday 12th April

7.00pm: Holy Week service, Abronhill Parish Church

Thursday 13th April – Maundy Thursday

7.00pm: Maundy Thursday Communion service, Abronhill

7.00pm: Maundy Thursday Communion Service, Condorrat

7.00pm: Maundy Thursday service, St Mungo’s. We will share a simple Passover meal in the large hall followed by Communion in the church sanctuary

7.30pm: Maundy Thursday Communion service, Cumbernauld Old

7.30pm: Maundy Thursday Communion service, Kildrum

Friday 14th April – Good Friday

10.30am – 12 noon (approx): Good Friday Walk of Witness, arranged by Cumbernauld Churches Together. Starting from outside the Dunnes store in the Town Centre at 10.45am and going via various locations in the Town Centre, ending at Cumbernauld United Reformed Church at around 12 noon. (Please note our new timings this year)

12.00 – 3.00pm: Good Friday Vigil – Cumbernauld Old will be open for prayer and reflection, with Bible readings and meditations on the hour and half-hour.

12.00 – 3.00pm: Good Friday Vigil, following the last three hours of Jesus’ passion and death with a short reading and reflection every 15 minutes, remainder of the time for quiet. Kildrum Parish Church

7.00pm: Good Friday service, Abronhill

7.00pm: Good Friday service, Condorrat

7.00pm: Good Friday service, St Mungo’s

Sunday 16th April – Easter Day

7.00am: Easter Morning service in the Chancel garden of Kildrum Parish Church

10.15am: Easter Day service, Cumbernauld Old

10.30am: Easter Day service, Kildrum

11.00am: Easter Day service, Condorrat, with decoration of the cross with daffodils

11.15am: Easter Day service, Abronhill

11.15am: Easter Day service, St Mungo’s

11.45am: Easter Day service, Forge Centre, Balloch (Cumbernauld Old)

7.00pm: Communion service, followed by a fish supper, in the large hall of St Mungo’s Parish Church
7.30pm: Maundy Thursday service, Abronhill
7.30pm: Maundy Thursday Communion service, Cumbernauld Old

Friday 25th March – Good Friday

11:am – 1.00pm (approx): Good Friday Walk of Witness, arranged by Cumbernauld Churches Together. Starting from outside Dunnes’ Store at 11am and going via various locations in the Town Centre, ending at Cumbernauld United Reformed Church at around 1.00pm

12.00 – 3.00pm: Good Friday Vigil – prayer, reflection, Bible readings and meditations on the hour and half-hour – Cumbernauld Old

6.00am: Act of worship in Kilsyth hills (meet in the Abronhill Church car park at 5.30am)

7.00am: Easter Sunday service in the Chancel garden of Kildrum Parish Church followed by breakfast in the church hall

10.15am: Easter Day service, Cumbernauld Old
10.30am: Easter Day service, Kildrum
11.00am: Easter Day service, Condorrat
11.15am: Easter Day service, Abronhill
11.15am: Easter Day service, St Mungo’s
11.45am: Easter Day service, Forge Centre, Balloch (Cumbernauld Old)

Holy Week and Easter 2014

A number of services and events are taking place in Cumbernauld to mark Holy Week & Easter. These include:

Monday 14 April

  • 7.30pm Holy Week Worship – Abronill Parish Church

Tuesday 15 April

  • 7.30pm Holy Week Worship – Abronill Parish Church

Wednesday 16 April

  • 7.30pm Holy Week Worship – Abronill Parish Church

Thursday 17 April (Maundy Thursday)

  • 7.00pm Sacrament of Holy Communion – Condorrat Parish Church – there will be a retiring offering for Christian Aid
  • 7.00pm Maundy Thursday service, including the stripping of the church – Kildrum Parish Church
  • 7.30pm Holy Week Worship – Abronill Parish Church
  • 7.30pm Sacrament of Holy Communion – Cumbernauld Old Parish Church

Friday 18 April (Good Friday)

  • 11.00am Good Friday Walk of Witness, arranged by Cumbernauld Churches Together, starting from Sacred Heart Church (please be there at 10.45am) and then through the Town Centre via Kildrum Parish Church, Church of the Holy Name, Cornerstone Church and finishing at United Reformed Church, where tea and coffee are served at 1pm (approx.)
  • 12 noon Vigil at Cumbernauld Old Parish Church until 3pm. A time for quiet prayer and reflection in the Church with a reading, meditation and prayer given each hour and half hour. You are welcome to come and stay for as long as you wish during the above times.
  • 12 noon Good Friday Vigil at Kildrum Parish Church until 3pm. Please feel free to come and go at any time during this period. The Minister and Deacon will read / reflect and lead prayer on the quarter hour.
  • 7.00pm Good Friday worship – Condorrat Parish Church – there will be a retiring offering for Christian Aid
  • 7.30pm Holy Week Worship – Abronill Parish Church

Sunday 20 April (Easter Day)

  • 7.00am Holy Communion in the Chancel Garden of Kildrum Parish Church, followed by breakfast
  • 10.15am Easter Day worship – Cumbernauld Old Parish Church
  • 10.30am Easter Day worship – Kildrum Parish Church
  • 11.00 Easter Day worship – Condorrat Parish Church
  • 11.15am Easter Day worship – Abronhill Parish Church
